Misson StatementScoil na Críon Coille is a co-educational, Catholic primary school which strives to provide a well-ordered, caring, happy and secure atmosphere where the intellectual, spiritual, physical, moral and cultural needs of the pupils are identified and addressed. Each and every child in Scoil na Críon Coille will be cherished and respected. It is our wish that each child leaves our school with good self-esteem, self confidence and with the knowledge, skills and attitudes that will help their growth and development through life. Déanfaimid iarracht Gaeilge a labhairt agus cultúr na hÉireann a chur chun cinn. |
HistoryScoil na Críon Coille was originally built 1942 in Gathabawn. It replaced an old school which was in the townland of Creenkill. The name Creenkill National School or Scoil na Críon Coille was maintained in the school's new location of Gathabawn. History was made in 2007 when Fr. Brennan, a local retired priest, helped the staff and children move into our refurbished school. Fr. Brennan was in sixth class in the old school in Creenkill and also assisted in the move between Creenkill and Gathabawn in 1942! Although the school maintained part of the old building it is now a state of the art primary school boasting two large classrooms, a bright and inviting learning support room, a staff room and two offices. The school is constantly moving foward to meet with the changing times. All of the children in the senior room are computer literate and each enjoy access to their own laptop. We also have a number of iPads in the school. All classrooms in the school have interactive whiteboards and access to wi-fi. |
